High ResolutionFirst Friday, June 3rd I will be re-showing my thesis work along with the rest of the artists from the University of the Arts 2011 graduating class from the College of Fine Art at the Crane Building. So if you happened to miss my work while it was up at Stupid Easy for Over Inked, Under Exposed, make sure you check it out.
2011 Fine Arts graduates from the University of the Arts come together for the first time in a group show.
Traditionally, the painting seniors have solo shows of thesis work on the 8th floor of Anderson Hall. Although this is a great opportunity, the 2011 class of painters has a strong sense of interdisciplinary comradery. While both printmaking and sculpture have culminating end-of-year exhibitions together, the three have never collaborated to curate a group show. This desire to extend past the specialized institutional constraints is what inspired the idea to work and present together in the larger Philadelphia art community.
The upcoming show at Crane Arts is completely student-run, student-funded and student-curated. Showing in this popular art gallery allows a broader audience access to the work and helps the graduates to join in the conversations already being held around the local art scene. 30 fine arts majors have taken this chance to create a space off-school grounds where the distinct artists and mediums can articulate and add to the contemporary portrait of Philadelphia.
This is a one-night-only show at the ICEBOX in the CRANE ARTS BUILDING on Friday, June 3rd. The gallery will be open at 12pm and the reception will take place from 5pm – 9pm. Join us for First Friday! You can RSVP on facebook here
